If we were to ask individuals, “What does it mean to be a man?” Most often than not,
we’ll be hit with similar responses about how masculinity is about being aggressive,
loud, dominant, and the list goes on. However, let’s take a break from the
stereotypes that are constantly bombarded on us via media and other popular
channels. Let’s take a moment to see a man as an individual, an individual with
insecurities, an individual with questions on how to be better, an individual just like
everyone.
We’re here to drift away from the toxic masculinity culture, embrace the differences,
and uplift people around us. Read further to know how to take care of your mental
health, ensure optimum fitness levels, and age like a fine, as a man!
All Progress Takes Place Once You Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

1. Get in a Habit to Do Small Things for Your Body

You might not realise it, but when you choose leafy greens over fries, or saute
veggies in olive oil instead of the usual one, you’re slowly getting into a habit of
avoiding what’s bad for your body. At first, you won’t feel like you’re moving the
needle, but in just a few weeks, you’ll feel and see the results.
Slowly but surely, you are actually lowering your risk of diabetes, cancer, and
macular degeneration. Your metabolism can be boosted by even a weekly cheat
meal that is high in calories and carbohydrates.
The small things you do to take care of your body will certainly add up. Stay
consistent!

2. Don’t Forget To Sleep for 7-8 Hours

This goes as a general rule to take proper rest because getting a good night’s sleep
is what makes or breaks your lifestyle. Being sleep deprived has almost become a
daily activity. This is no secret, but just because you do something regularly, doesn’t
mean it’s acceptable by your body. If you’re not taking enough rest, then all the effort
you put in while working out in the gym or working overnight in the office become of
no use.
You can’t think of catching up on your sleep on weekends, because let’s face it,
you’d rather be out with your friends and family after a week of hard work.

3. Stop Yo-Yo Dieting

As per a research done by the University of New South Wales, if the weekends are
when you choose to let yourself free, and go wild over your unhealthy eating habits,
you’re doing your gut more harm than good. It’s a pattern where you lose weight and
then regain it in no time.
Yo-yo dieting, according to researchers, can disrupt the 100 trillion bacteria microbes
in your gut that regulate and affect your digestion, immune system, and general
nourishment. However, when these proportions and complexity of bacteria are
disturbed, it can lead to some serious illnesses like obesity and chronic inflammation
that affect the digestive system.

Ditch Toxic Masculinity. There’s Freedom in Understanding Your Feelings and
Emotions.

“Men aren’t supposed to cry.”
“Be a Man. Wipe your tears.”
“Stop crying. Man Up!”
We’re here to tell you that it’s okay to cry. It’s okay to feel down. It’s okay to vent out
your feelings. It’s okay if you’re not okay. Here are some ways to acknowledge what

it truly means to be a (hu)man-

1. Talk to Someone

The main problem with men’s mental health is self-imposed alienation brought on by
a lack of communication. In fact, it has been said that 40% of males believe they are
unable to communicate to others about their difficulties.

However, the expression “a problem shared is a problem halved” is truly apt in this
matter. Simply speaking with someone—your friends, family, colleagues, or
professional—can help relieve some of the burden and they might be able to provide
the support and guidance you need.

2. Move Your Body

The best way to take care of what’s inside is by simply doing something or the other
from the outside. In this case, a healthy body leads to a healthy mind because you’re
channeling your feelings into a workout. Exercise causes the body to release
endorphins, which have been scientifically demonstrated to improve mood, sleep
quality, and focus.
Even light exercises like brisk walking, or cycling till work, can just be the pick-me-up
you need for the day. During your break, get some natural light, take a stroll around,
and don’t forget to add in a dose of laughter here and there.

You Have No Idea How Good Your Body is Made to Feel!

Take the chance of doing something or the other for yourself. No matter what, put
your health over anything!
