Men are known for taking better care of their cars, than their own health. One of the

major reasons for men to neglect their health issues could be the societal pressure
of “Just Man Up!” They are expected to be tough, to not feel a thing, and to go
through life as if they are machines with no feelings. But does it make sense for a
man to ignore their issues because of some stigma and stereotypes? No!

Research has found out some reasons why men are facing a decline in their health.
The factors range from merely a lack of awareness from their side to poor education
on health topics to unhealthy work ethics. There are a plethora of reasons, but we
don’t want you to waste your time reading about something that you already know.
Let’s dive straight into some of the major health issues faced by men and how to

spot them early and take necessary actions-

1. Cardiovascular Disease

Cardiovascular disease might seem like a common health condition and almost
anyone can be its victim. It has been established that men are more vulnerable than
women to a number of heart-related illnesses. They are more prone to be victims of
heart strokes, high-blood pressure, cholesterol issues and so on and so forth.

You’d be surprised to note that one in every 4 males are found to have been dealing
with cardiovascular issues. Most of the time they won’t even realise it, because silent
attacks are more common. Here are the symptoms-

● Heart Attack- you’re likely to experience a range of problems like shortness of

2. Depression

exists. It has been ingrained deep into our mind, and societal pressure only makes it
worse.

Depression isn’t something to shy away from, it’s okay to not be okay. There are
several problems that we are facing on a daily basis, and there are several bad news

Depression is what affects your energy, your ability to think straight, your capability to
handle your mundane activities, and a lot more. It’s not easy to deal with, and you

3. Respiratory Diseases

When we are fit and active, we take breathing too casually. We never truly recognise
the importance of our lungs and how crucial it is for our survival. However, when our
lung health deteriorates, we come to a quick realization that breathing is literally the
only thing that matters. It’s the sad reality that millions of people worldwide suffer
from some lung diseases or the other.

According to data, ambient air pollution causes around 33.6% of COPD (chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease), residential air pollution causes about 25.8%, and
tobacco causes about 21%.

Some Common Lung Diseases-

● Asthma- Your lungs will cause spasms, they’ll be constantly irritated that
results in you being constantly wheezing and facing breathlessness. You can
expect air pollutants or allergies to exacerbate your asthma.

● Tuberculosis- If you suffer from pneumonia then the condition might worsen to
cause tuberculosis.

● Lung Cancer- It has several types and may start to spread from any part of
your lungs. It’s most common near the air sacs.

4. Diabetes

Too much of anything is bad, just take diabetes into your account. In comparison to
women, men have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes at lower weights. One
explanation is that males accumulate more belly fat, a proven risk factor. Additionally,
undetected diabetes affects more males than women; perhaps this is because men
tend to avoid receiving unfavourable news.

Since the early signs of diabetes may not seem alarming, they frequently go
unnoticed. Some of the earliest, least severe signs of diabetes include:

● Extreme weariness
● Hazy vision
● Loss of weight even without any lifestyle changes
● Excessive urination

In essence, leading a healthy lifestyle is essential for living a long and healthy life. It
is ideal to take preventative measures to avoid contracting the diseases described
above. Always be on the lookout for early warning signals and don’t disregard any
form of persistent illness. Even recurrent headaches, muscle discomfort, etc., are
possible signs of chronic illness.
