Cardiff City kicked off the FA Cup third round with a first shock at Bramall Lane, upsetting the Championship formbook by beating promotion-chasing hosts Sheffield United.

Thursday’s other two ties went the way of Premier League hosts Fulham and Everton, who beat Watford and Peterborough, respectively.

All the drama at Goodison Park came a few hours before kick-off, with new owners The Friedkin Group flexing their muscles by sacking manager Sean Dyche.

We will have all the reaction to that decision and last night’s three ties, as well as build-up to tonight’s matches – Wycombe v Portsmouth and Aston Villa v West Ham.

Also, stick with us for a flurry of FA Cup news conferences, starting with Liverpool’s Arne Slot at 09:00 GMT.
