Amazon has revealed a brand new Alexa voice assistant powered by its new Alexa large language model (LLM), promising better interaction and smart home experience. Alexa’s new model will enable it to be more conversational and produce more human-like responses. Also, the new Alexa can now respond to multiple requests at once, allowing users to create new Routines entirely by voice without any manual programming. Alexa’s cognitive functions are also expanded: the new Alexa’s Action Controller function is capable of controlling certain third-party products that aren’t in Amazon’s smart home ecosystem toolkit. The LLM-powered Alexa will launch first in preview in the US and be available to anyone with an Echo device. Amazon hasn’t announced a date for the preview, but has claimed that the new Alexa may not always be free.
